Smerillo

Smerillo one never knows if it exists, or if it is a mirage, different as it is from everything, with its lazy years dilating motionless a living and surreal present. Between calcined stone walls and lichens, unchanged is the shape of the air on a canvas that is more than a thousand years old, and when the light floods the houses, long shadows on greedy roofs call fading instants, suspended as a challenge to tell what will be along a road paved with visions. Each sun has its own diadem, and songs of fossil melodies rhythm the echo of a bold stillness, waiting for a trail that the oasis hands down from eternity to eternity.

The environmental attractions, interesting nature trails, boundless views, highly suggestive glimpses, extraordinary quiet and healthy air, make Smerillo a destination of considerable tourist attractiveness and an ideal center for relaxation. Identified by the European Community as a “Site of Community Importance as a Special Protection Area.”
