Monteleone di Fermo, a charming village in the Marche region, stands out for its authentic atmosphere and medieval charm. Perched on the spur between the Ete Vivo and the Lubrico stream, Monteleone di Fermo enters history with the presence of the Farfensi and becomes a municipality in the Middle Ages. It still boasts remnants of castle walls, and the built-up area has unchanged aspects of medieval flavor. The Town Hall has been entirely restored; of particular interest is the bell tower consisting of an irregular hexagonal tower (13th-14th cent.), formerly the central element of the ancient Castle of Torre dé Casoli together with the 10th-11th cent. court of S. Maroto now in the parish church dedicated to S. Marone. In a document datable to around 1264-67 the fief is reported to be in the possession of the lords of Clarmonte, who ceded their rights over the Castle of Casole to the Municipality of Montelparo. As early as 1251, however, Monteleone appears as a castle of Fermo.
