Mount Vidon fights
Monte Vidon Combatte, a charming town in the Marche region, is distinguished by its peaceful atmosphere and breathtaking views of the surrounding hills. Its historic center holds ancient architectural treasures, while the surrounding countryside offers opportunities for hiking and outdoor activities.
The liber Jurium (text of the episcopate of the city of Fermo) attests as early as 1184 to the presence of Combatte, lord of Mount Guidone. Tradition recounts that he, during a battle, was compelled to send a message of help to his brother Corrado with the following phrase: “Corri Corrado that Guidon Combatte” thus consigning it to history. Later the name Guidon, would be transformed with the evolution of the language into “Vidon.”
Monuments, churches
- Parish church of San Biagio, with an 18th-century bell tower, designed by Arch. Maggi preserves ” The Virgin and Child,” oil on canvas by Jacopo Agnelli, 15th c. With a characteristic double-arched door.
- Small church of St. Proculus, with 15th-century frescoes. It guarded a polyptych by Frà Marino Angeli from 1457, now in the diocesan museum in Fermo.
- Remembrance Park, Fishpond Pond, historic fountains and wash houses, medieval old town.
