Belmonte Piceno
Belmonte Piceno, a charming town in the Marche region of Italy, fascinates with its rich history and natural beauty. Its historic center, enriched by ancient palaces and picturesque narrow streets, tells stories of the past. The surrounding hills offer breathtaking views and tranquility.

Belmonte Piceno is located on a ridge that plays the role of watershed between the Tenna and Ete Vivo valleys. Prehistory and protohistory have their evidence in the three hundred identified tombs of the Picenian age, endowed with extraordinary quantity and quality of artifacts.
The Belmont hill of the Picenian Chiefs was a crossroads of trade with a high degree of prosperity when it was occupied by the Romans; in 269 the latter imposed themselves by force of arms. From the early fifth century there was devastation by Germanic peoples. It became part of the Farfense dominion as evidenced by an 11th-century register. The name was said to derive from the immigrant settlers from Belmonte Sabino; from 1263 the Belmontese drew up written pacts with the Fermo authority to be exempt from taxes, while five years later they obtained perpetual citizenship.
In the 14th cent. Belmonte established itself as a notable center of Fermo commerce, protecting the urban center with external walls, while rural houses and small country churches spread throughout the territory. During the centuries of peace, the castle experienced considerable expansion, and rural dwellings were renewed and increased.
