montegranaro - teatro la perla

Situated on a soft hillside just 14 kilometers from the coast, Montegranaro enjoys a splendid panorama from the Adriatic to the Sibillini Mountains, through roads lined with centuries-old oak trees and characterized by gentle hillsides, expanses of wheat, olive groves and vineyards. Tradition boasts Roman origins-with the toponym of Veregra-but Montegranaro first sees the light in a Farfense document from 829. In the 13th century it was a free municipality, in 1387 it became a fief of the Venetian Zeno family, in 1443 it suffered domination by the Sforza family and then by the Papal State, until the unification of Italy. The illustrious Montegranaresi: Giulioso Conventati (15th century), jurist, lecturer at the Macerata Athenaeum; San Serafino da Montegranaro (1540- 1604); Domenico Svampa, cardinal and Archbishop of Bologna (1851-1907); Giovanni Conti (1882-1957), politician and vice-president of the Constituent Assembly; Alessandro Cruciani (1841- 1912), musician and poet. As early as the end of the 18th century, Montegranaro established itself as a center of footwear production and today, the driving force behind the Marche district, it is the pole of excellence in national production as well as being recognized as one of the world’s most important production systems, thanks to its vocation for quality and elegance, combined with an innate creative spirit.
Traditional craftsmanship and skilled workers among the most qualified in the industry, care for details and materials used, attention to the “form” are elements that have always distinguished the product “Made in Montegranaro.”
